We are now less than a month away from one of our groups most excitedly anticipated events of the year – Berrylands Fireworks 2024! Alongside the Berrylands Summer Festival, this is one of our big fundraisers so vital to the groups continued success.

Read below for details of ticket sales, helping out with the event (please sign up here) and the challenges we are facing this year with fundraising.

Ticket Sales

Ticket sales for the event will be open to the group at section meetings during the week of the 21st-25th October, and then to the public from 4th-6th November. We anticipate selling out within a couple of days, so if you want to secure a ticket, make sure you are ready at your section meeting!

Helpers needed!

This year’s event is going to be a little different. Unfortunately, the hall floor renovation work is still ongoing, and unlikely to be finished before the end of the year. So rather than cancel and disappoint everyone, we have decided to run the event entirely outdoors.

Since we can’t access the hall this year, we have had to reduce the amount of tickets we are able to sell, meaning that only a select group of 500 will be able to watch the event from inside the scout hut garden, where there will be the usual offerings of BBQ, beer, mulled wine and cakes, as well as the stalls selling glow sticks and light up toys.

In order to keep everyone safe, fed and happy we need a minimum of 60 volunteers from the group on the day to run the event. There are a variety of jobs you can help with – from cake and mulled wine sales, to marshalling and even helping to set off the fireworks!  Please sign up here and let us know what you’d like to do.

(We also need help in advance with arranging raffle prizes and ticket sales etc, so please do still get involved, even if you can’t be there on the night.)

All volunteers also get a free ticket to watch the fireworks, so sign up now to help be part of the team!

Filling our funding gap

Unfortunately, as a result of having to reduce the number of tickets available, this year we are really having to focus on finding other ways to generate revenue for the group during this event, ideally without asking parents and local residents for even more money!

One of the ways that we can raise additional funds is through corporate sponsorship and/or financial donations to the event. If anyone has any experience in corporate sponsorship, we would really appreciate it if you were able to spare a couple of hours, and share your thoughts on how we could approach local (and not so local) companies to encourage them to support our event.

Additionally, many employers offer a matched giving scheme, or have specific funds that employees can apply to, that would provide much needed revenue for our group.  If you think this may be something that your company could help with, please get in touch.
