Fundraising

Berrylands Scout group relies on fundraising to support the activities that we do with our young people. We host 2 main events in the year – the Berrylands Summer Festival and the Berrylands Fireworks Night. Without these events we will be unable to continue the Group, as we are unable to survive solely on the subscriptions paid by parents.

If you’d like to find out more about volunteering at these events or being on the organising teams, please get in touch.

In addition to our major annual events, there are a number of ways that you can help us raise additional funds for the group, at no additional cost to yourself.

Matched Funding

Did you know that many companies offer their employees Matched Fund Schemes, whereby employers match money raised by a given charity, at no cost to the employee?

As Berrylands Scout Group is a registered charity, this could be an excellent way of raising additional money for Group. As we run 2 big fundraising events a year (the summer festival and the Fireworks night) it would be great if as many parents as possible could ask their HR department if they offer Matched Funding, and then the time that you spend volunteering at the events could raise double the funds for the Group!

Companies may match the fundraising total for an event, or for the stall that their employee is working on. Usually, the employee will need to supply them with a letter from the organisation detailing the date and nature of the event, together with the total raised.

We understand that many high street banks, building societies, supermarkets and large corporations are likely to do match funding, but these schemes are not exclusive to the major corporate giants. If you work for an independent company, they may be interested in charitable giving through match funding too.

We would be grateful if you could see if your employer has a Matched Funding Scheme, or if they are willing to match fund any of our events.

If you can’t help out this time, but you know the company you work for has a Matched Funding Policy, please get in touch with the Trustee Board via your section leader or using our contact details.

Matched Funding could be a really large source of income for us and help us raise money to support and enrich our young people’s experiences.

Easy Fundraising

We are also using a great website called easyfundraising to help raise money for the Scout Group – simply by shopping online.  easyfundraising turns your everyday online shopping into FREE donations when you use them to shop with over 4,000 retailers such as eBay, John Lewis, Argos, ASOS and Booking.com.

If you are happy to support us in this way, please register using this unique link – just click sign up –

Plus, once you’ve signed up and raised £5 in donations (at no extra cost to yourself), easyfundraising will give us an extra £5 donation.

You can also install a phone app and browser plugins that prompt you to use “Shop to Fundraise” when you shop at a partner site.

There’s no catch or hidden charges and we would be really grateful for your donations.

Just Giving

In addition to raising funds for activities within the group, we are also currently fundraising to enable us to replace the toilets in the scout hut. We would like to remove the current male and female toilets, make 2 unisex cubicles and add an additional toilet with disables access.

We are in the process of setting up a Just Giving page for the Scout Group, so please check back here for the link soon.
